Lincolnshire-based international transport company, Overland Transport, specialists in the movement of temperature-controlled produce and dry freight throughout the UK and France, has added its first Euro 6 Renault to its 6-strong fleet. The Range T460 6×2 was supplied by Renault Trucks approved distributor Thompson Commercials Boston.

Overland Transport is an independent, family business that has been delivering professional transportation services for over 40 years making a gradual transition from potato transport to specialists in temperature-controlled distribution. The new Range T is being used at the forefront of collecting and exporting British-manufactured products from the East of England, the Midlands and M62 corridor and delivering to North West and Central France including the Loire Valley, Brittany and Normandy. Return loads typically consist of chilled or frozen produce with expertise in apple farm collections in the Loire Valley and overnight deliveries to the UK’s fruit and vegetable wholesale markets. Overland Transport has also acquired substantial experience delivering to some of the UK’s largest supermarket chains.

Commenting on his decision to bring the first Euro 6 vehicle on board, Transport Manager, Rob Page said: “Overland Transport has been a loyal customer of Renault Trucks for 18 years so it was a natural progression to bring a new Range T into the fleet. Renault Trucks has always shown a keen interest in our business and let us know about any new vehicles and provided demonstrators for us to trial.”

Rob continued: “We’ve found the Range T to be far superior to previous models. I personally have driven the new vehicle and both my drivers and I think with all the controls within easy reach and very quiet engine noise, coupled with the ever efficient Optidriver gearbox, makes for a pleasant day’s driving. The bigger cab is a huge plus as our drivers can be out on the road for 7-10 days when travelling to France so it’s imperative that they are happy. So far we’ve been really impressed, the Range T is already matching the Renault Premium’s fuel consumption and this has been in harsh driving conditions; we expect this to improve further as the engine runs in.”

Overland Transport, Billinghay, operates a daily service to Western France, and has acquired substantial experience delivering to some of the UK’s largest supermarket chains.
