Scotland’s oldest independent, family-owned department store chain Watt Brothers, has expanded its fleet with Ryder to support the business’ expansion plans.

Watt Brothers has taken on an additional Daf LF45.160. The 7.5-tonner features a manual gearbox, day cab, and an Alloy box body with Dell tail lift. The new truck, on a five-year contract hire package, takes the retailer’s fleet to three vehicles.

Watt Brothers is a family-owned business that has been serving customers for more than 100 years. Its warehouse in Govan serves 10 stores (Glasgow, Clarkston, Lanark, Ayr, Livingston, Hamilton, Clydebank, Robroyston, Falkirk and Irvine) with another to follow later this year in Port Glasgow.

Watt Brothers spokesman Peter Samson says: “We take great pride in how we present ourselves to our existing and potential customers. As much as our shop floor staff, our drivers represent Watt Brothers to our customers. Having no hassle and comfortable vehicles helps that process.

“Ryder is always a pleasure to deal with. Our vehicles are regularly serviced, and maintained with no fuss. The communication is always clear, concise, professional and enthusiastic.”

Robin White, Ryder sales and marketing director, adds: “At Ryder, we know how important our clients’ customers are. Our role is to provide clients like Watt Brothers with operational peace of mind, leaving them to focus on what they do best, running their business.”
