The increasing popularity of the compact Rioned Jet-Vac combination units mounted on 7.5 tonne Isuzu truck chassis is reflected by the growing number of such vehicles that have gone into service with drainage contractors and utility companies here in the UK in recent times.
According to Rioned, the European market leader in the field of drain and sewer cleaning machines, upwards of 30 Isuzu 7.5 tonne rigids fitted with Rioned combination Jet-Vac units are now in service with UK operators in just three years. Working in conjunction with Isuzu Truck’s Liverpool based dealer Ditchburn Trucks, the Isuzu and Rioned combination of rigid truck focuses on simplicity of use and maximum flexibility, as it has been engineered for single man operations.
Rioned’s Mark Cox says, “For the last three years we have worked very closely with Ditchburn Trucks and Isuzu Truck UK to provide our customers with a reliable, productive vehicle with an impressive payload capacity. The close working relationship between the three companies has resulted in a growing market for this type of flexible and versatile vehicle, which is designed to maximise manoeuvrability in urban areas with limited access, as well as incorporating a range of innovative design features.”
Fitted onto the popular Isuzu 7.5 tonne Forward N75.150 URBAN chassis, the powerful Rioned unit features a high-performance vacuum pump and can be supplied with several high-pressure pump configurations, together with a PTO drive facility. The suction hose connects to a 3000 or 3500 litre tank for immediate operation. The hydraulically operated hose reel pivots 180° for ease of operation and includes 100m of high-pressure hose. The unit also features ample storage for hoses, CCTV units and for other tools.
Rochester-based MTS Cleaning Services, one of the U.K.’s leading waste management companies, recently took delivery of four new Isuzu rigids with new Rioned Flexcom combination Jet-Vac unit. Chris Henderson, sales director, MTS Cleaning Services commented, “The company and our operatives are all very pleased with the new vehicle fleet. The trucks offer great versatility to our customers as they can get into spaces where larger vehicles would normally struggle.”
The concept of this high-performance vehicle was based on discussions between Rioned, Ditchburn Trucks and Isuzu Truck UK over 3 years ago, when they identified the requirement for a high-performance truck to work in city centre locations where a compact vehicle footprint matched to high payload was the ideal specification. The subsequent success of the Isuzu and Rioned partnership is reflected by the growing numbers of these vehicles now in operation.
“The Isuzu truck chassis is shipped to Holland where the Rioned technology and equipment is installed. It then comes back to the UK to Ditchburn Trucks who provide a one stop shop for fitment of the ancillary accessories, such as Chapter 8 LED light bars and reversing cameras, to make it fully compliant and fit for purpose,” said Mark Cox, “Supported by a full R&M package for both the chassis and the body, we can then offer this vehicle specification to customers at a fixed cost on either a contract hire or rental basis.”
