Delivery of a new MAN TGX 26.440 to Lancashire-based Rooster Truck Racing is all part of the team’s bid for glory in this year’s British championships.
Rooster Truck Racing, which formed four years ago and is based in Royton, is headed by team principal Dave Taylor, with his son Luke in the driving seat. The team had been racing a Renault, but when they decided they needed to be faster and more competitive, they turned to the MAN marque.
They bought their race truck, now nicknamed King Klaus, which means victory of the people, from European truck racing champion, Jochen Hahn, at the start of the year and brought it over from Germany.
However, the team decided that to complete the combo, they needed a matching MAN TGX to act as their tow vehicle. The two trucks will now be heading for the CV Show, to be held at the NEC Birmingham from April 25 – 27, where the race truck will be exhibited at Stand 3B.
Dave, who has been in the haulage industry since 1977, and MD of TTX haulage since 2000, said: “We have a massive relationship with MAN that goes way back to 1995, and have some great friends at MAN Truck & Bus Manchester.
“They are quality trucks, but then there are a lot of great trucks out there – what sets MAN Manchester apart is the people; and I buy off people.
“If they take the time and care to look after me, then I will look after them and that is the quality of service you get from MAN, right through from the salesman to aftercare, they can never do enough for you and I appreciate that.
“We are looking forward to taking the two trucks to the CV Show. The race truck will be on a stand, while the liveried tow vehicle will be on the car park.”
MAN Truck & Bus UK will also be at the CV Show in Hall 5 Stand F10.

Rooster Truck Racing has already enjoyed its first meet of the season at Brands Hatch, where Luke qualified second, despite missing half of last season following a wrist injury. The team is also due to race this week (April 22/23) at Pembrey in the British Truck Racing Championship.
