L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage, the Hemel Hempstead-based construction industry services provider, has taken delivery of its first Scania tippers with low height L-series cabs. The vehicles are primarily intended for muckaway use on the High Speed Two (HS2) rail project.

Supplied by Scania (Great Britain) Limited, the 32-tonne gross weight vehicles are all based on Scania L 360 B8x4*4NB rear-steer double drive chassis and are equipped with 14 cubic metre Loadmaster Lite bodies. The trucks’ low datum L-series cabs have been individually specified to achieve their Transport for London (TfL) 5-star Direct Vision Standard rating. Included within that specification is Scania’s City Safe window. Mounted in the passenger door, this window has been designed to enhance the safety of vulnerable road users by providing the driver with additional nearside visibility.

“Providing the best possible service to our customers, means investing in the safest and most efficient vehicles” comments Stephen Bremner, Lynch Fleet and Health & Safety Director. Scania’s L-series design has enabled to us to achieve the highest possible TfL Direct Vision Standard rating and support our collaborative goals of improving road safety in urban environments. The driver’s visibility of the road ahead, vulnerable road users, site operatives and other hazards is dramatically increased. We’re glad to have also opted in for Scania’s highly-recommended maintenance package.”

Formed in 1980, Lynch provides a nationwide operated and self-drive plant hire, haulage and transport services to a variety of construction industry sectors, including civil engineering, public utilities, earthworks and highways maintenance.
