A hot pink Renault Trucks Range C has joined Beverley-based David Hodges Transport Limited’s fleet of seven tippers. Fitted with air horns and light bars, the striking new 32-tonne Range C430 8×4 with Weightlifter insulated tipping body, Harsh tipping gear and matching pink Union Jack-emblazoned easy sheets, was supplied by Thompson Commercials Hull.
Operating across East, West and North Yorkshire, the bright pink Range C is already turning heads transporting tarmac, aggregates and asphalt, as well as lime for spreading on farmland during the summer and harvest periods.
Managing Director and Owner, Dave Hodges bought the Range C for his daughter, Mel Hodges, who drives for the family business. She knew exactly what she wanted: a pink tipper that matched her nail varnish.
As Mel says: “After weeks of trying to find the correct pink, no-one seemed to have the right colour. So I picked my favourite hot pink nail varnish: Richard at DWI did a precise colour match on the paint, Matt Vinyl Graphics did the wrap and it’s spot on – I love it !”
Although looks are important, it is performance that counts most for Mel: “I like the style of the Range C, but its ride and economy is miles better than any other make of truck I’ve ever driven. It’s so easy to drive, the automated gearbox is amazing. The cab is spacious and laid out so well; everything is within arm’s length and easy to operate – the bunk’s comfortable too.”
A loyal Renault Trucks’ customer for 31 years, Dave Hodges explains why he opted for the Range C: “I’ve always liked Renault Trucks and on our Company’s 30th Anniversary last year we had one of the vehicles shrink wrapped in the Union Jack! The Range C is perfect for our operation: the drivers like them, especially the room in the cab and the power, ride, drive and hill starts are all excellent. When we are working in the fields and farms the Range C really comes into its own; we have found it is one of the best trucks to get in and out, and the grip is superb.”
