Yardley, Birmingham-based Euro Packaging UK Ltd has added eight new Volvo FE rigids to its transport operation. The group consists of four 18-tonne 4×2 rigids and four 26-tonne 6×2 rigids.
The eight new FE rigids join a fleet of 17 Volvo FH tractor units at Euro Packaging UK Ltd.’s headquarters and were all supplied by Dan Byworth, Truck Sales Executive at Hartshorne Motor Services Ltd.
The quartet of 26-tonne Volvo FEs are powered by D8K Euro-6 engines rated at 320hp, whilst the four remaining Volvo FE 4×2 rigids, operating at 18-tonnes, are fitted with 250hp versions of Volvo’s D8K power plant. Sleeper cabs and Volvo’s award-winning I-Shift 12-speed, automated transmission systems were also selected for the group.
The FE chassis all come with front steel, rear air-suspended, 5,800mm wheelbase chassis and curtainside bodywork by Fred Smith & Sons (Motor Bodies) Limited in Walsall.
Euro Packaging UK Ltd opted for five-year Volvo Gold Service Contracts that guarantee 100 per cent uptime; a commitment that is made possible by a telematics gateway.
The company is also using Volvo’s fleet management system, Dynafleet to gain precise data on vehicle and driver status.
