LEAP24, a leading provider of EV charging solutions, and Shurgard Self-Storage, a leading self-storage company, today announced a strategic partnership and the launch of their first joint EV charging point in Surbiton, UK.

Located at Shurgard’s Portsmouth Road in Long Ditton, Surbiton (KT6 5QQ), the new charging point is designed to accommodate both electric cars and vans, catering to the needs of local residents and businesses.

The partnership between LEAP24 and Shurgard aims to address the growing demand for EV charging infrastructure, particularly in urban areas with Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZs). By leveraging Shurgard’s extensive network of storage facilities, LEAP24 can provide convenient and accessible charging solutions to a wider audience.

Peter Ågren, Head of EV at Shurgard Self-Storage, said:

“We’re partnering with LEAP24 for EV charging because we want to continue our journey on ESG, which is to reduce or minimise our impact on the environment.

We have the land available, so why not use it for something good for the community, good for our customers, and good for society in general?

At Shurgard, we see this partnership as growing. We’re just in the beginning of our partnership. We see it growing first in the UK, then continue to the Netherlands, and then Germany.”

Pelle Schlichting, CEO and Founder of LEAP24, said:

“LEAP24 is partnering with Shurgard because they have excellent locations in large cities. It caters perfectly to our fleet audience, driving in low and zero emission zones in Northwest Europe. It all starts here!

Working with Shurgard means more than just servicing the customers renting at Shurgard, which is a great thing in itself because you have storage and you have charging so you can do that, but we also service the local communities. So there will be a day, when you see Shurgard with LEAP24, from London to Berlin. This partnership will help decentralised or small businesses trying to find their way in the zero-emission logistics.”

This partnership marks the first step in a broader collaboration between LEAP24 and Shurgard, with plans to expand the network of EV charging points across the UK, Netherlands, and Germany.
