On 30th June Dennison Commercials celebrated 40 years in Newry when the current Newry Depot Manager, Malachy Martin and Dennison’s MD, John Jenkins reunited founding partners Dan O’Hare and Eugene O’Reilly with former Depot Manager Sean McCracken at the depot on Martins Lane and presented them with commemorative Volvo FH trucks and a one day only pricing event.

In addition, during the course of the day, the Volvo truck and bus dealer for Northern Ireland also ran a 15% off Volvo parts discount, gave away five £100 pre-booked services, provided freshly made gourmet food from the Fabulous Food Factory and raised £241 for the Newry Hospice with a prize draw holiday to Gent, Belgium and a tour of Volvo’s largest European truck factory.

Martin has been working in Dennison’s Newry branch for nearly 38 years and reflected on the day, “We have come a long way from the early days and our customers are the ones to thank. Over the years I’ve seen the same customers coming back time and time because they know the Volvo brand is reliable and that we’re committed to providing them with a quality after sales service.”

Originally opening its doors in 1976 as ‘Newry Commercials’ in the Win Business Park, they moved to the Greenbank Industrial Estate and became incorporated with Dennison Commercials in 1993, before finally settling in 1998 at their current location on Martins Lane.

The Newry depot’s offering has also changed over the years. Initially they only serviced trucks and stocked some parts. Now they offer new and quality used Volvo trucks and buses, rental Volvo trucks, full service, bodywork, and new and used all-makes parts.

Furthermore, as part of Dennison Commercial’s provincewide initiative to continually invest in their facilities, the Newry depot has doubled their service workspace, and their used and rental truck yard. They have also recently completely refurbishment of their reception, staff and driver areas.

Now after 40 years of growth in Newry, Jenkins explains how Dennison Commercials isn’t taking anything for granted, “It’s only thanks to the continued loyalty of our customers that we’ve been here for so long, we are equipped to service everyone from owner drivers to larger fleet customers and treat every job as a priority.”

Jenkins added, ‘‘We are keen to listen to the feedback of our customers, and make improvements to match their wants and needs, current customer satisfaction results show Newry Depot as very strong in this regard.”
