TIP’s cycling team, the ‘Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls’, is hitting the roads for the 10th time in May with the aim of raising £50,000 for charity.
The team of around 50 cyclists, consisting of TIP customers and partners from across the UK and Ireland transport and logistics sector, will undertake the fundraising challenge in aid of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, a Staffordshire-based establishment that provides end-of-life care.
This year, the self-titled ‘Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls’ team will cycle over 300 kilometres, with around 2,000 metres of climb. Cycling from Zurich in Switzerland, the team will pass between the Alps and lakes of Austria, arriving 3 days later in the Bavarian capital of Munich, in what has been dubbed the ’10 Year Ich’ challenge.
It is the team’s 10th fundraising effort with more than £500,000 raised for various charities from its nine previous excursions. In what has now become an annual event in the industry’s calendar, the team has always been made up of ‘cyclists’ of varying ability levels and experience, with this year being no different.
“The 10th TIP charity bike ride is a significant milestone for us and one that we never envisaged could be possible when the initiative first began. It is testimony, not only to the dedication of the riders over the years, but to the generosity of all those that have supported our cause, whether it be as official sponsor, donator or those giving up their precious time.” said Mike Furnival, managing director of TIP.
He added: “Through our collective efforts, we have surpassed our fundraising goals every year, and while doing so, we have forged lasting relationships with various charities and industry partners. This year, we hope to raise £50,000 in support of a wonderful charity which works tirelessly to provide both residential and at-home care.”
The success of the ‘Fat Bottomed Boys and Girls’ team highlights TIP’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
As the team gears up for their landmark 10th ride, TIP invites individuals and organisations alike to rally behind their cause and contribute towards their effort to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
