The FL816 which forms the centrepiece of the Volvo Trucks display is in the livery of the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service FL (NIFRS). NIFRS is a long standing user of Volvo Appliances, including Water Tenders and Pump Ladders, which have played a key role in the fleet for around thirty years.
Chassis specification of the FL816 Water Tender / Pumping Appliance includes drive-axle air suspension. The Volvo Appliance is powered by Volvo’s Euro-6 compliant D8K280 engine rated at 280hp (206Kw). Maximum power is developed at 2,100 r/min and the D8K280 engine delivers maximum torque of 1,050Nm between 950 -1,700rpm.
The FL618 on display at the Emergency Services Show is equipped with the Allison 3000 series automatic transmission. The bodywork was manufactured by Strong’s Plastic Products and the main bodybuilder was Emergency One Ltd., of Cumnock, Ayrshire.
