Prologis, the global leader in industrial real estate today announced that it has signed an agreement to lease 342,622 square feet to Clipper Logistics plc at Prologis Grange Park in Northampton.
Clipper, the specialist retail logistics company, has taken the new building to operate its contract with Inditex, the parent company of fashion retailer Zara. At Prologis Grange
Park, Clipper will manage the distribution of all Zara’s online sales in the UK, bringing up to 1,000 jobs to Northampton.
The distribution centre, which Prologis built speculatively, completed in March 2015. It has achieved an EPC ‘A’ (13) rating and BREEAM ‘excellent’ accreditation.
“We decided to build speculatively at Grange Park because we believe it offers one of the best opportunities for logistics operators in the East Midlands,” said Andrew Griffiths, managing director of Prologis UK. “We are delighted that the building meet’s Clipper’s requirements and that it was ready in time to meet Clipper’s operational deadline.”
Prologis is working with Clipper Logistics to secure planning permission for works on the internal fit-out and it is anticipated that the building will be fully operational by autumn 2015.
DTRE and TDB Real Estate acted for Prologis, while JLL represented Clipper.
Prologis owns and manages approximately 23 million square feet of logistics and distribution space in the U.K. as of March 31, 2015.
