Doncaster-based haulier McGregor Logistics has taken delivery of ten tri-axle straight-frame curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers. Bespoke-designed from the ground up as part of the manufacturer’s collaborative approach to customer experience, the new trailers feature Moffett truck-mounted forklifts specified to meet the needs of the operator’s clients.
Finished in the haulier’s Ultramarine Blue colour-scheme, the ten new 13.6m curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers entered service immediately and are playing their part in keeping shelves and various supplies across the UK and other countries stocked during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Keith Law, McGregor Logistics’ managing director, comments: “It’s refreshing to work so closely with a trailer supplier and each time we’ve visited Tiger Trailers’ facility we’ve been nothing short of highly impressed. The care and attention to detail that their designers and sales team have shown is much appreciated and instils us with confidence. The new Moffett trailers look great and as a business we are proud to highlight them to our customers and others. Thank you, Team Tiger, for an excellent job.”
The rear of each of McGregor’s latest fleet additions has been tailored for the rigours of daily Moffett operation, with a soft docking feature providing further aid to the driver to protect against bay damage when the forklift isn’t attached, while the lightweight trailers’ design includes neck ballast, and additional galvanisation has been used to maximise protection against rust.
McGregor Logistics’ worldwide reach necessitated the incorporation of ferry lashing rings, and the side valance with standard rear spray suppression has been set at ferry-operating height. Elsewhere, the comfort of the haulier’s drivers has been considered with the installation of a nearside grab handle to aid coupling, and the safety of nearby vehicles and people is reflected in the use of flashing safety beacons at the rear along with additional LED environmental and reversing lights.
Reducing weight and therefore operating costs for McGregor Logistics, its new curtainsiders feature Tiger Trailers’ lightweight roof frame assembly, along with an aerodynamic front panel to help mitigate air drag.
Five of McGregor Logistics’ new EN XL-rated trailers have a 4500mm overall height and the remainder are 4000mm tall. They feature Durabrite alloy wheels, a Wabco braking system and SAF disc brakes.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure from start to finish to support such a hands-on and dynamic firm that is clearly focussed on serving its customers around the UK and world in the best ways possible. We also place customer experience at the forefront of our ethos and are pleased that we have been able to meet all of McGregor Logistics’ bespoke requirements. Having met a number of their team and drivers, their passion is clear, and we’re pleased that the new trailers’ introduction has strengthened our key worker customer’s efforts in providing vital logistics at this challenging time”, comments Tiger Trailers’ technical sales manager, Thomas Stott.
