The Stobart Group has announced that the Environment Agency has awarded a further four year contract to the company to provide major incident response, logistics and storage support.
The new contract follows an initial one year contract where Stobart Group delivered more than 10.6km of barrier to defend against storms Angus, Barbara, Connor and Doris, amongst other operations.

Toby Willison, Executive Director for Operations at the Environment Agency, said:
“Being prepared for flooding is one of our top priorities, so having the right equipment in the right place at the right time is key. This contract means our temporary barriers and mobile pumps are ready to go anywhere in the country, allowing us to respond rapidly and flexibly to help protect communities, homes and businesses.
“I am delighted we will be continuing to share expertise with the Stobart Group to make sure we’re as efficient and effective as possible ahead of the winter months.”
Meanwhile, the half-year performance of the Cumbrian-based group has been boosted by the partial sale of the Eddie Stobart Logistics arm which resulted in pre-tax profits of £111.6m compared to £10.8m in 2016.
