Award-winning road marking and specialist surfacing contractor, Quality Marking Services Limited (QMS) has taken delivery of three Renault trucks supplied by Renault Truck Commercials, Exeter. Two Range D16 Chassis 4×2 R Sweeper 250 E6s with Johnston VT651 sweeper bodies join a Range C430 6×2 with a bespoke built body specifically designed for the installation of their very own Anti-Skid Surface Treatment, QMS HyperGripTM.
Specifically adapted to meet QMS’ exacting requirements, the Range D sweepers are right hand drive, with a unique roof mounted loading hatch which enables preloading of dry aggregates at ground level. Two aggregate delivery valves at the rear deliver dry, clean, aggregates in a safe and controlled manner, while a weight display prevents overloading and measures the correct quantity of aggregates utilised on each job. Working in conjunction with the new Range C430, they install High Friction Surface Treatments for clients across the South and South West of the UK.
The new Range D sweepers, known as ‘Maggie’ and ‘Lizzy’ following a naming competition to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday, and Range C ‘Frankie’ (because she is a bit of a monster !), join ‘Mary’, another bespoke vehicle built on a Renault Midlum chassis used to deliver highly reflective road markings to motorways and major trunk roads.
Managing Director, Greg Clark, explains why he opted for Renault Trucks: “We bought Mary back in 2006 and so far she has successfully completed over 8 million metres of lines across the UK and Ireland. We’ve also been running our Range C, Frankie, since March 2016 and we’ve been very pleased with the quality of the product and the service from the team at Renault Trucks Exeter. When we decided to increase the fleet with two bespoke road sweepers, the natural choice was Renault as well as Johnston’s high spec body.”
Greg continues: “Our business is expanding and as we have had such positive experiences, Renault Trucks was top of mind when we were looking for new vehicles. The “sweeper” pack that is included makes it very straightforward to build the body onto the back of the chassis so we could get the trucks out on the road and working as quickly and effortlessly as possible.”
Wayne Petherick, General Sales Manager Renault Truck Commercials-Western Region, comments on the deal: “We are delighted to work with QMS and Johnston to deliver these bespoke vehicles which have been designed with their particular requirements in mind. The Range D chassis with sweeper pack is an online Factory Option with excellent payloads and it’s built and warranted for total peace of mind. We look forward to continuing the partnership with QMS and assisting with any future vehicle requirements they have.”
