Ipswich-based Tippers ‘R’ Us has taken delivery of ten Volvo FMX 8×4 tippers from Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia.
The trucks were delivered with Boweld Taperlite tipping bodies as part of Volvo Trucks’ combination offering, through which Volvo has teamed-up with some of the key players in the bodybuilding world to make available complete trucks with bodywork.
Managing Director at Tippers ‘R’ Us, Guy Nicholls says: “Our drivers simply love these trucks. From my perspective, when you buy a Volvo you are investing in driver comfort and safety, quality, reliability, productivity and healthy resale values. There’s really little else out there to compare.”
The Day-cabbed FMX tippers sit on B-Ride rear two spring bogie suspension and are powered by the 13-litre D13K engine rated at 420hp. They are also equipped with I-Shift automated gearboxes featuring construction software.
The 15m³ capacity Boweld Taperlite steel tipping bodies utilise Edbro tipping gear. “The favourable fuel economy of the Volvo FMX allied to the load capability of the Taperlite bodies means we’re getting great operating efficiency,” says Guy.
All ten tippers are covered by Volvo R&M contracts that see maintenance and repairs carried out at Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia’s Dealerpoint in Ipswich. “The service provided by the dealer is of a high standard and I feel my business is being supported,” says Guy.
Business in the shape of Tippers ‘R’ Us is a relatively new venture for Guy, who sold his previous company – Fork Rent – last summer. “I started Tippers ‘R’ Us about 20-months ago, but it has only really had my full attention for the last ten months since the sale of Fork Rent.”
Based in Kesgrave, to the east of Ipswich, Tippers ‘R’ Us shares a 44-acre site with sister company Trucks ‘R’ Us. “We’re presently developing the site so that in every aspect it is of the highest quality,” says Guy. “I guess it would be fair to say we’re trying to achieve 10-years’ growth in 18-months.”
Guy is driven to set new standards in relation to recycling general construction waste. “With Tippers ‘R’ Us I’m not heading a revolution,” he says, “but I believe I am on the leading edge of evolution. I want Tippers ‘R’ Us to be recognised as the ultimate professional outfit in the recycling field and my choice of Volvo trucks and the £10 million investment I’m making in the Sinks Pit site is testament to this vision.”
