Knights of Old is to train up more long-term unemployed people to Category C lorry drivers.

Back in 2012 the Kettering based firm had created a successful scheme with Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership after discussions between both parties regarding the lack of new HGV drivers.

The employer offers training to a group of people who have been unemployed for a minimum of six months, with the commitment to interview them all at the end. The candidates spend a week at college and a week at the logistics firm working alongside an experienced driver. If their interview is successful then they become eligible for funding by Job Centre Plus to train for their Category C licence.
